Young Dro was born on January 15, 1979, in Bankhead, a neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia. His real name is D'Juan Montrel Hart.

He is the 2nd eldest of 5 children born to his mother, while his father reportedly had a total of 21 children.

At the age of 16, he was shot on stomach & couldn't walk for a year. On the charge of possessing a gun & drugs, Young Dro was arrested at Georgia Southern University in August 2016.
