Back on December 31, 2002, Tony Yayo along with 50 Cent was arrested for possession of weapons: Glock 20 handgun and a Colt AR-15. As a result, the rapper was imprisoned for an entire year (in 2003) & released on parole on January 8, 2004.
However, just a day after his release, Yayo was arrested again for possession of forged passport & held in federal prison for a month.
During his time in prison, rappers of the G-Unit, as well as Eminem, started a campaign to free Tony; even more, the Rap God rapper wore "Free Yayo" T-Shirt in 2003 Grammy Awards.
He was released on February 24, 2004.
The legal troubles once again got the rapper, as Yayo was charged with an alleged assault on a 14-year-old boy on March 24, 2007. After series of hearings, the prosecutors dropped the charges in February 2008.
