He then migrated to Boston and worked for AM radio station WRKO. Leykis started his national show The Tom Leykis Show on California radio station, Westwood One in 1994. The program content were politics, religion and other issues. 

The show started airing in KLSX FM talk station in 1997. The same radio station also broadcasted Howard Stern’s program, The Howard Stern Show. He started the humor segment “Leykis 101”. In the weekend days, he hosted a program titled The Tasking Room in February 2005.

Tom Leykis was born as Thomas Joseph Leykis on August 1, 1956, in The Bronx, New York, United States. He was born to father Harry Leykis, union leader at The New York Post, and mother Laura O’Mara. As for siblings, he has a brother; Jim, and two sisters; Terry and Anne.

Leykis belongs to American nationality and white by ethnicity. His is the descent of Jewish, Irish and Ukranian ancestry. His grandfather moved from Kiev, Ukraine to Lithuania and then to the United States.

As for education, Leykis completed his high school course from Newfield High School in Long Island, New York. Later, he enrolled at Fordham University but left due to low finance.

He then married television personality Christina Gonzalez. However, the relationship did not last long and divorced when Leykis found his wife cheating on him. 

Following Gonzalez, Leykis married one of his seattle fan in 1989. They lived together for a year and separated. In 1993, Leykis married Susan Drew whom he met at a Los Angeles Kings game. The couple lived in happy marital life in Boston. 

Susan filed a police report against Leykis for assaulting and threatening him on December 22, 1993. Leykis was sentenced a year probation and attend a domestic violence class in March 1994. The couple divorced in 2003.


Leykis came into highlight when he revealed the name of accuser in the Kobe Bryant sexual attempt case, Katelyn Faber, in 2003. 

Besides, he revealed name of the teacher who sexually misused the 13 years old child. Likewise, he talked about the North Carolina Central University Student Crystal Gail Mangum who falsely accusing three students of Duke University of battery, sodomy and rape.

Karen Carpenter of Juneau, Alaska sued Tom Leykis and Westwood One for Leykis’ sexual comments about her in July 1998. 

American actor and comedia Marty Ingels called Leykis’ show and challenged him on moral grounds. Leykis commented Ingels by stating,
