She has also authored numerous short stories and spin-offs to her Twilight novel series.

Twilight was the first book Stephenie ever wrote, and, according to Meyer, the idea for the book came to her in a dream.

She jotted down a rough first draft but had to jump through hoops to just get it recognized. After being rejected by more than a dozen publications, she landed a three-book deal with the publisher, Little, Brown, and Company worth $750,000. The first book, Twilight, was published in 2005 and rose atop The New York Times Best Seller list.

She subsequently followed up with three sequels, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. All of which landed in The New York Times Best Seller list. The latter of the books sold 1.3 million copies on the day of its release alone and earned Stephenie a British Book Award for Children's Book of the Year.

To date, the Twilight novel series have sold a combined 100 million copies worldwide and has been translated in 37 languages. The four books spent a combined 235 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list.
