Roseann O'Donnell was born on 21st March 1962 in Commack, New York, the United States of America to Rosean Teresa Murtha and Edward Joseph O'Donnell. She is an American as per her nationality and has Irish ethnic descent.
She went to Commack High School, where she was voted homecoming queen, prom queen and senior class president. Following her graduation, she went to Dickinson College before transferring to Boston University.

O'Donnell first started as a stand-up comedian touring clubs in between 1979 to 1984. She got her first big break from Star Search.
