Nicky Hayden: Personal Life
Hayden was born on 30th July 1981 in Owensboro, Kentucky, to parents Earl Hayden and Rose Hayden. He was one of 3 brothers, Tommy and Roger Lee, both of whom are professional racers.
He started road racing with the CMRA, against racers much older. He started racing so early that his feet would not touch the ground, and a family member or a grid member would have to hold his bike. While still in high school, at the age of 17, he was racing factory stock Honda RC45 superbikes.
Hayden got engaged to Jackie Marin in May 2016.
Death And Funeral
On May 17th 2017, Hayden was hit by a car while riding his bicycle alone near Rimini, Italy. The accident took place at around 2 o'clock. Reports later showed that the driver was driving 50 mph on a 30 mph zone and collided with Nicky in an intersection. Authorities put 70% blame on the driver and 30% blame on Nicky, who had passed a stop sign.
Hayden suffered Brain injuries that put him into a comatose -like state. He took his final breath on May 22nd, 2017, 5 days after the accident. He was 35 years old.
His funeral was held on 29th May, 7 days later. Over 2000 riders showed up for his funeral in his home state of Owensboro, Kentucky. People also lined the road of the funeral procession to mourn the fallen racer.
