Mick Thomson is one of the two guitarists for the metal band, Slipknot, where he is the Number 7 (the rest of the band are numbered from 0 to 8). Among the fans, he is famous with the name, Log. The third longest-serving member of Slipknot since he joined the band in 1996.

Currently, he performs alongside the present band members: Shawn Crahan, Craig Jones, Sid Wilson, Corey Taylor, Jim Rootand Alessandro Venturella.

Interested in the death metal bands since his childhood days, Mick Thomson took guitar lessons in his early days and started playing for local bands. He became a notable figure in 1993 after he formed the death metal band, Body Pit along with Donnie Steele (guitar), Paul Gray (bass), and Anders Colsefni (vocals).

After three years with the local band, he joined Slipknot in 1996 replacing Craig Jones in guitars and became the band's sampler. 

Then, he worked in their debut self-titled album, Slipknot in 1999- it became 2-time RIAA Platinum-certified and made $2.49 million in earnings.

Masks Used In 'Slipknot' Band

Since Slipknot formed in the mid-'90s, they started using masks and hence, it has now become a fundamental part of their identity. Linchpin Clown came up with the idea of their masks. It so happened that their first ever gig was on the Halloween of 1995 and during rehearsals, the idea popped in the minds of the Linchpin Clown. 

Mick's first-ever mask was a hockey-mask. But, after a while, he changed it to a black leather gimp mask.

Thomson and his brother involved in a knife fight outside a house in his hometown of Clive, Iowa which led both of them to injury. The guitarist for the Slipknot was very serious after he was stabbed in the back of the head.
