Megyn Marie Kelly is an American journalist and former corporate defense attorney. From 2004 to 2017, Kelly hosted a talk show called America Live and co-hosted America’s Newsroom at Fox News.   House 

Following her departure from Fox News, Kelly joined the NBC News as a host of the morning show Today along with her program titled Megyn Kelly Today until 2018. As of 2019, Megyn Kelly owns a net worth of $30 million.

She went to Tecumseth Elementary School, Bethlehem Central High School, and layer Syracuse University from where she earned her undergraduate degree in political science. Moreover, she earned her J.D. from Albany Law School in 1995.

Career Journey 

In 2003, Megyn moved to Washington, D.C., and got hired as the ABC affiliate WJLA-TV as a general assignment reporter.

During her stay, she covered significant national and local events including live coverage of the confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. and Chief Justice John G. Roberts, the death of Chief Justice William Rehnquist, and many more.   

Fox News  

On 1st February 2010, Megyn began hosting her own 2-hour afternoon show called America Live, replacing Fox News’ previous show The Live Desk.

She grabbed media attention from her coverage of the results of the 2012 United States presidential election. Since 7th October 2013, Kelly began hosting a new nightly show The Kelly File which eventually overtook the channel’s regular number one The O’Reilly Factor in ratings.   

Since May 2016, Kelly began hosting a one-hour primetime special on the Fox Network where she would interview celebrities from the worlds of politics, entertainment, and other areas of human interest. Although the show acquired 4.8 million viewers, it came in third place in ratings.  

NBC News

On 6th January 2017, Kelly left the Fox News with a final episode of The Kelly File. She then began hosting her own daytime program along with taking part in the network’s major news event and political coverage for NBC News.    

As per sources, Kelly’s annual salary at NBC was in between $15 million to $20 million. She began hosting her own daytime talk show Megyn Kelly Today which premiered in September 2017.  

The show was canceled by NBC on 26th October 2018 as Kelly was considering to focus her role as a correspondent.

On 11th January 2019, Kelly announced that she will be back on television in 2019. However, clear details were not provided. 

In February 2016, Kelly signed a contract worth $10 million with HarperCollins to write an autobiography titled Settle for More scheduled for release later that year. The book was released on 15th November 2016.

As of 2019, she is working on social media and independently reports about the trending topics on her show named The MK Interview. 

Speaking Against Harassment And Abuse

The 49-year-old journalist Kelly became the national news after she spoke about the sexual harassment and abuse she went through by former NBC co-host Matt Lauer

Along with Gretchen Carlson, Greta Van Susteren, Addie Zinone, Eleanor McManus, and Linda Vester, Kelly signed a letter urging Comcast to launch an investigation into NBC News after NBC made it clear that they wouldn’t pursue a new investigation into internal handling of accusations against Lauer.

She was also one of the women who speak against the late Roger Ailes; former chairman and CEO of Fox News. The story became a high profile case and has been documented several times on Television. 

The film titled Bombshell starring Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman is also based on the same event. Charlize played the character of Kelly.    

Who Is Megyn Kelly’s Husband?

Kelly is married to writer and novelist Douglas Brunt who is also the former president and CEO of the cybersecurity firm Authentium.

The couple exchanged their wedding vows on 1st March 2008 and share three children Yates (b. 2009), Yardley (b. 2011), and Thatcher (b. 2013). 

Prior to Brunt, Kelly was married to anesthesiologist Dr. Daniel Ronald Kendall. They tied the knot on 29th September 2001 until their divorce in 2006.
