The year 2019 just ended and let just say it was one of the surprising years for the movie industries in terms of money. There is no arguing that Disney dominated the box office; however, there were few small budget films which were the biggest surprises of 2019.

The story starts with the six people; a physics student Zoey, a wealthy daytrader Jason, a stockboy Ben, a truck driver Mike, an Iraq War veteran Amanda, an escape room enthusiast Danny.
The aforementioned characters are given to solve a puzzle cube. After solving, they are invited to take part in an escape room. The person who can escape gets the prize of $10 thousand.
Basically, Escape Room is the movie in which six characters are dealing with a psycho puzzle maker.

With the release on 15 March 2019 in Toronto and 5 April 2019 in the United States, Shazam! was expected to rule the box office by director David F. Sandberg and producer Peter Safran. But the movie only grossed around $365 million worldwide.

Shazam! boasted celebrities like Asher Angela and Zachary Levi as Shazam, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Jack Dylan Grazer as Shazam Jr, and other co-stars.

8. X-Men: Dark Phoenix

X-Men: Dark Phoenix was one of the most awaited 2019 American superhero films based on the Marvel Comics X-Men characters. Though, it's release in June 2019 did not make its fans happy.
It received unfavourable reviews from various critics and viewed as a disappointment to Fox's X-Men franchise.

7. Men in Black: International

The movie starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson is loosely based on the Lowell Cunningham's same-titled comics book. With the good records on box office from the previous popular film series, this spin-off was also expected to cross a billion milestones; however, it only collected $253 million worldwide.
Being the box office bomb, the critics criticised the movie as the "lackluster action and forgettable plot" claiming it to be the worst of the series.

4. Terminator: Dark Fate

3. The Irishman

Ford v Ferrari is an American sports action drama film directed by James Mangold with a production budget of $97 million. So far, the movie has grossed over $203 million worldwide with a lot of positive reviews.
Following the plot, the story is about a team of American engineers and designers building a racing car Ford GT40 to race against the Ferrari racing team.

The $55 million worth movie received mixed reviews from the critics and has grossed $59.2 million worldwide. Unlike, it the previous instalment which grossed over $260 million.
