Kat Von D is a Mexican-born American tattoo artist, model, author, entrepreneur, musician, and TV personality.

She punched her ticket to limelight with her appearances in Miami Ink on TLC and solidified herself with her own TLC show, LA Ink. Since then, she has been the face of the tattoo industry and launched her line of vegan beauty products, Kat Von D Beauty.

After her falling out with the owner of the tattoo shop, Ami James, she started her own tattoo parlor in Hollywood, California, High Voltage Tattoo -- the subject of her own reality show, LA Ink.

The show ran for four seasons from August 7, 2007, to September 15, 2011, during which Kat set the Guinness World Record for most tattoos by a single person in 24 hours with 400.     

Kat Von D launched her beauty line for the French luxury brand, Sephora, in 2008. Her products have been reformulated to be vegan and cruelty-free since 2016. 

Despite being lampooned with claims of anti-semitism for her poorly-named beauty brands, Von D has frequently benefitted charity foundations like the Art of Elysium and Project Chimps.   

She also founded the all-age tattoo, music, and art convention, MusInk Tattoo Convention and Music Festival, based in Southern California.

On September 2, 2010, she also launched her art gallery and boutique shop in Los Angeles, Wonderland Gallery
