Isabella Rossellini is an Italian-born American actress, filmmaker, author, and model. The daughter of eminent actors and film-industry titans Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini, and the ex-wife of visionary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, Rossellini is a noted actress in her own right with nearly a hundred acting credits.

Isabella has been involved in many environmental conservation efforts throughout the years. 

She is the current president and director for the Howard Gilman Foundation -- an organization that strives for the conservation of wildlife, arts, dance, and photography. 

She is on the board of directors at the Wildlife Conservation Network and is a major benefactor for such causes as the Central Park Conservancy and the Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society, where she is a part-time resident.

Rossellini is also a National Ambassador at the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

She spent her childhood in Rome, Santa Marinella, and Paris, and when she turned 19, she moved to New York City and enrolled at the Finch College. To make ends meet, Rossellini worked as a translator and a TV reporter.

From September 29, 1979, to November 1, 1982, Isabella Rossellini was married to the legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese. It was Isabella's first marriage, but Scorsese's third.

After her divorce from Scorsese, Rossellini married for the second time to Jon Wiedemann in 1983. They have one child together, daughter Elettra Wiedemann, born on July 26, 1983. The couple also adopted a son, Roberto Rossellini, born in 1993.

Both Rossellini's children followed her into the industry and established actors.

Rossellini and Wiedemann divorced after three years in 1986.
