The Princess of Uzbekistan, Gulnara Karimova, was missing for ages. Many rumors acclaimed that she has been poisoned to death. Moreover, a source reported her to be dead under mysterious circumstances after a few months of her father's death. The same source claimed that she died from cardiac arrest. Did she really? 

As of March 2020, she has been sentenced for more than 13 years following a £1.7 billion ($1.98 billion) corruption trial.

The daughter of the former tyrannical ruler of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, Gulnara Karimova, was found guilty for money embezzlement, extortion, money laundering, and other financial crimes. 

On 18 March, Uzbekistan's Supreme Court passed the judgment of Karimova and her five other partners to be kept behind bars for 13 years and four months prison on top of her previous sentences.

Gulnara, who has been serving her trials in Tashkent since March 2019, went on the trial for $1.98 billion corruption charges on 8 January. As a matter of fact, she was sentenced to 10 years of prison, which was later reclassified to house arrest. 

After Karimova violated the terms of her house arrest, she was jailed, and the U.S Department named Karimova as the part of a significant international bribery scheme, charging her with conspiracy to violate U.S. foreign corruption laws, Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty reported.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Gulnara Karimova cheated more than $2 billion from the citizens of Uzbekistan. She has also been accused of owning assets worth $600 million as well as $876 million in kickbacks. 

She was named as a "robber baron" by the United States diplomats. As a matter of fact, she was the next president after her father; however, her infamous corruption charges turned the situation against her. 

She was abandoned by her father and was sentenced in Tashkent.

In February, she sent a letter to her father successor President Shavkat Mirzijoev. In the letter, she offered to return back $686 million back to the country's treasury and permit of her release for an urgent surgery of her illness.
