Daytime Emmy Awards winner Emeril Lagasse is an American chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and a television personality who has appeared in Food Network's long-running shows like Emeril Live and Essence of Emeril.  

He is the receiver of 2003's National Best Recipe Award for his Turkey and Hot Sausage Chili and also the winner of James Beard Award for mastering the Creole and Cajun cuisines and for his personally developed New New Orleans culinary style.

Culinary Career

He started working at a local restaurant to pay his tuition fees during which he met his first wife, Elizabeth. Emeril then traveled to Paris and France until finally returning to the US, whereupon he started working at the finest restaurants in the Northeast.

Lagasse secured the position of Executive Chef in 1982 at the Commander's Palace after replacing Paul Prudhomme. After working for almost seven years at the Palace he opened his first restaurant, Emeril's, in the year 1990. By far he has opened up four restaurants all over the United States.

As a cookbook author, he has written 10 books, namely Emeril's Potluck: Comfort Food with a Kicked-Up Attitude, From Emeril's Kitchens: Favorite Recipes from Emeril's Restaurants, and Emeril's There's a Chef in My Soup!: Recipes for the Kid in Everyone, to name some.

He was born as Emeril John Lagasse III on 15th October 1959 in Fall River, Massachusetts in the United States to Emeril John Lagassé, Jr. and Hilda Medeiros. He has a sister named Delores Lagasse and a brother, Mark Lagasse.

He studied culinary arts at the Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School and earned a scholarship to learn percussions at the New England Conservatory of Music. But instead, he attended Johnson & Wales University to pursue his career in culinary.

60-years-old Emeril is currently married to Alden Lovelace since the 13th of May 2000. He was previously married to Elizabeth Lagasse (1978 - 1986) and Tari Hohn (1989 - 1996). The American chef shares two children with Elizabeth and two others with Alden.
