Dave Attell's prodigious wealth comes from his prolific career as a comedian, writer, and actor. He has been performing in some form or fashion since the late '80s and is widely considered one of the best -- if not the best -- off-color comedian alive.
Attell began his career as a stand-up comedian and performed at open-mic gigs. One such gig landed him his first TV role in the VH1 1998 stand-up docuseries, Stand-Up Spotlight, hosted by Rosie O'Donnell.
He went on to appear in many televised comedy specials throughout the next couple of years before landing his biggest gig in the November 24, 1993 episode of The David Letterman Show.

He was born in a Jewish household and raised in Rockville Centre, Nassau County, New York, where he attended South Side High School.
After his graduation, he enrolled at New York University and pursued a degree in communication. He graduated with a Bachelor in Arts degree in 1987.
