Tim Bergling, better known as his pseudonym Avicii, was a Swedish DJ and songwriter.

He was the mastermind behind the chart-topping single Wake Me Up that went from a catchy song to a worldwide phenomenon. One of the highest-paid DJs in the world, Avicii was an industry-leader and a morally-upstanding human being.

Behind the scenes, however, Tim was a tortured soul and was plagued throughout his life with mental and physical anguish. Things came to a head when he succumbed to his demons, and he took his own life in April 2018 during a vacation in Muscat, Oman. He departed the world at the tragically young age of 28.

Nevertheless, Avicii was at the forefront of the new wave of electronic dance music at the time of his tragic death, rather than tarnishing his legacy, however, his death, if anything, has immortalized a life that was lived in service of music and of others.

Avicii left behind a legacy that is more profound than his $50 million net worth and can only be measured in terms of the lives he touched and saved when the one person who needed saving was him!

What Was Avicii's Net Worth At The Time Of His Death?

At the time of his death in 2020, Avicii was worth $50 million, if sources are to be believed.

While these days, the influence of EDM can be felt seeping through the pores of almost all modern music, but there was a time when the genre was not as ubiquitous as it is today.

Enter Avicii, who not only rejuvenated the genre, but propelled it into mainstream prominence and heralded a new wave of EDM popularizers; the likes of Alan Walker, DubVision, Diplo, Sebastian Ingrosso, Felix Jaehn, and Martin Garrix have all cited Avicii as their musical hero.

Avicii was one of the most successful DJs at the height of his career, and during his relatively short-spanning professional career, he released two studio albums: namely True(2013) and Stories(2015) with a posthumous release, Tim(2019), consisting of unreleased demos and singles.

His albums have performed exceedingly well on American and global music charts and his single "Wake Me Up (featuring Aloe Blacc)" off of his debut album, True, bringing forth an unprecedented amount of fame and fortune and topping the charts in multiple international markets.

In 2012, he made $7 million in a single calendar year. The following year, he grossed $20 million and, in 2014, made $28 million. Avicii was also a prolific touring musician and routinely made up to $500k for a single gig.

What is her salary?

Talking of his salary, he owns a total of $50 million per set as his salary.

Cost Of Avicii's Hollywood Hills Mansion

In 2013, Avicii dropped a whopping $15,750,000 to purchase a mansion in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles.

The 7,007 square-foot mansion has an impressive six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The structure is complete with a man-made stream that flows into a multi-level infinity pool.

His mansion went up for sale for 17.5 million in late 2018.

Avicii Didn't Draw Up A Will Before His Death

Facing one's mortality is not an alluring proposition, but drawing up a will is undoubtedly a smart way to cover your assets in the off-chance that something unseemly happens.

Avicii didn't foresee his death, so he didn't have a will drawn up to cover to whom his assets would go. At the time of his death, Celebrity Net Worth estimates that he was worth $50 million. Given how charitable he was, it would be safe to assume that Avicii would have wanted his wealth to go to charity, but unfortunately, we will never know.

What we do know is that according to Swedish probate laws, the beneficiary of his wealth are his parents as he was unmarried and had no offspring at the time of his death. Not even his siblings - of which there are three - are legally allowed a say in his posthumous wealth.

Avicii Was A Philanthropist

Not only was Avicii a phenomenal musician, but also an upstanding human being. A noted philanthropist, he pledged whatever he could to help the lesser fortunate.

He co-founded House for Hunger with his manager and executive producer Ash Pournouri in 2011, which pledges to alleviate global famine. He also funded a million dollars to Feeding America and funded The Feed Foundation, a charity drive against the famine epidemic in Africa.

He has also been outspoken on such issues as human trafficking and gang violence.

Posthumously, his parents continued Tim's philanthropic work in the spirit of their son with the Tim Bergling Foundation, which raises awareness on mental health and suicide. Besides mental health, the foundation also raises funding and awareness on such topics as global warming and climate change.

Avicii: Early Life And Childhood

The wider world may have known him by his stage name Avicii, but to his parents, he was Tim Bergling. Born on 8 September 1989, Tim was one of three children born to father Klas Bergling and mother Anki Lidén: the other three being David Bergling, Linda Sterner, and Anton Körberg.

Tim was all of eight years old when he started mixing songs in his bedroom. He pursued his dreams rigorously and became a known fixture in the EDM world before he was catapulted to the forefront of the EDM music scene.

Avicii's Death Was Ruled A Suicide

Avicii was firing on all cylinders and conquering the music world, but Tim Bergling was quietly struggling to stay afloat.

Tim was afflicted by mental illness and anxiety. Exacerbated by his alcohol use, Tim as hospitalized in January 2012 due to acute pancreatitis.

He was effectively forced into early retirement from active touring in 2016 due to his deteriorating health.

Tim circled the drain for years, just getting by before things got too overwhelming. Tim was found dead on April 20, 2018, in Muscat, Oman.

TMZ broke the news on May 1 that the cause of death was blood loss due to a laceration by a sharp instrument - in this case, a broken wine bottle. There were no signs of foul play, and the wounds looked to be self-inflicted; Tim had committed suicide. He had been 28 at the time.

A small private funeral was held on June 8, 2018, in the Skogskyrkogården cemetery, Stockholm, where those closest to Tim paid their respects. He was laid to rest in Hedvig Eleonora Church, where he rests to this day.
