No doubt American model Aly Raisman is a courageous lady. In 2017, the star disclosed that she had been sexually abused by former team doctor Larry Nassar.
Aly revealed that she had experienced assault by Larry since she was 15 years old:
“It wasn’t until I started seeing other doctors and athletic trainers that I began to realize that their methods were far different from Larry’s," she wrote of the experience. "And there was never a moment when their methods made me uncomfortable. It was different with Larry. I would lie on the table, my hands involuntarily balling themselves into fists as his ungloved hands worked their way under my clothing. ‘Treatment sessions’ with him always made me feel tense and uncomfortable."
In 2018, 5 feet 2 inches tall Raisman filed a lawsuit against the USA Gymnastic and The United Olympic Committee over their negligence to "implement appropriate safeguards" to protect all the other female gymnasts from Larry.
Finally, Aly got justice on January 24, 2018, after the former doctor was sentenced in Michigan state court to 40 years to 175 years in jail on criminal sexual conduct charges. Likewise, Larry is also working a federal sentence of 60 years for controlling child pornography.
Amid the case, Aly attended ESPY Awards with 140 other casualties of Larry's sexual molest. She was honoured for her courage with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. Her voice gave several women to talk about their struggles against harassment at work.
