Joining the Playwrights Conference in 1996, Adam Rapp first played Finer Noble Gases in 2000 at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Following this, the play was shown at different theatres which are listed below.

  3. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in New York City in 2004

His second play Nocturne premiered in 2001 at the New York Theatre Workshop which later on staged at Berkeley Repertory Theatre and American Repertory Theater. In 2002, his play Stone Cold Dead Serious was produced by the American Repertory Theater.                 

For his 2005 play Red Light Winter produced by Steppenwolf Theatre Company, he received the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work. Also, the show received the Pulitzer Prize in 2006.

The Los Angeles Times Book Award winner Rapp published his first novel, Missing the Piano in 1994 focusing on the young adult read. After three years, he published his second book, The Buffalo Tree.

Following this, he was invited to be the first author at Ridgewood High School. Muhlenberg School Board of Reading, Pennsylvania censored the show for its graphic language and sexual content.      

His third novel was 33 Snowfishwas which was ranked in the Top Ten Best Books for Young Adults by Young Adult Library Services Association. He also published another one, Under the Wolf, Under the Dog in 2004. 

It was in 2006 that he published his first adult novel, The Year of Endless Sorrows. Three years later in September 2009, he released a graphic novel, Ball Peen Hammer.       

Screenwriting And Movie Directing  

His career as a director came in 2005, and his first work was on the movie Winter Passing with Zooey Deschanel and Will Ferrell. In 2010, he wrote HBO's series, In Treatment.  

The man was also involved in music. He released the album named Bear in early 2006 as a member of Less the Band.

Adam Rapp was born on June 15, 1968, in Joliet, Illinois, USA. He is the son of  Mary Lee and Douglas Rapp who got divorced when Adam was just five years old. He grew up along with his brother Anthony Rapp (who is an actor as well as a singer).         

Regarding education, he completed his school level from  St. John's Military Academy and later on, graduated from Clarke College. After the completion of his studies, he went to New York City's East Village, where he worked at the book store. 

At the place, he got an opportunity to write plays and fictions. He also achieved a two-year playwriting fellowship from Juilliard School.                                  

While he was in his college days, he used to play basketball and also was a captain of the team.
